A Big Win and a Small Worry
Four-two in Edmonton, and the first regulation loss of the season for the best team in the league. Then the Jazz close out the preseason — DP in the fourth-quarter closing lineup, and the one thing still nagging at me.
Thin Ice
The Mammoth come home from a 3-2 road trip to face an Original Six opponent in Toronto. A 5-2 lead, a third-period collapse, and a final two minutes spent six-on-four. There was nothing left to do but pray.
Preseason Game 3
San Antonio rested their stars, and what showed up for us was the will to defend. But the player I most wanted to write about tonight is Ace Bailey, piling up the contributions that never make the box score.
DP22 Drops 23! And the Mammoth Are on Top!
The Mammoth grind out a 5-3 win in New Jersey to move to the top of the Central. And in the first home game at the renovated Delta Center, DP22 goes for 23 — looking completely settled.
Preseason Opener
The Jazz open the preseason. The result doesn't matter; what's inside the game does. Ace on defense, DP looking lost, and an offense that never stops moving.
Off to 2-0!
The first game of the road trip ends 4-1 in Columbus. Cossa wins his first NHL start, and through two games the power play is running at 71%. Last season's problems are being painted over one by one.
Opening Night!
The Mammoth open the season with a 6-0 shutout and a franchise record: fourteen players on the scoresheet. Speed and pressure — this team's identity showed up on night one.
Key to Win!!
Keyonte George is staying in Utah on a five-year deal. I was the one who thought he couldn't play point guard. I was wrong.
Thank You, Cody
Cody Williams has been traded. From being called a bust as a rookie to the light that finally started to show. He had everything you can't teach.
